About

Born in Minnesota, raised in Missouri and Georgia, and currently residing in California, Casey Lowe is an all-American story artist, writer, and creator. After graduating from high school, Casey was accepted into The Art Institute of Atlanta’s Media Arts & Animation program. While there, he realized that his true passion and strength lies in the pre-production area—creating characters and worlds, storyboarding, and overall story-telling. His keen abilities in this area won him the “Best of Show” Portfolio Award when he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the summer of 2005.

After spending a few years in website design, Casey returned to school, and in 2012, graduated from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California, earning a Master of Fine Arts degree in Animation & Visual Effects. Learning under the guidance of some of the industry's top storyboarding talent, he was awarded first place in Storyboarding at the Academy’s annual Spring Show. Shortly after graduation, he moved to the Los Angeles area and began freelance storyboarding work for Disney Mobile, working on the games Disney's Hidden Worlds and Star Wars: Tiny Death Star.

Casey's big break into the Industry came from Sony Pictures Animation joining the story team for Smurfs: The Lost Village, directed by industry veteran Kelly Asbury. During his initial two and a half years at Sony, Casey also lent his story talents to Genndy Tartakovsky's Hotel Transylvania 2, worked on two different versions of a Smurfs short (Hefty and the Beanstalk), and got to be a part of the small team working on Henry Yu's directorial debut, a direct-to-video collaboration with the WWE, Surf's Up 2: Wave Mania.

Trying his hand at the world of television, Casey spent the next year at Disney Television Animation working on season two of their hugely successful show Elena of Avalor. He then returned to Sony to work with directors Kirk DeMicco and Brandon Jeffords on the Lin-Manuel Miranda-created project, Vivo. During his second Sony stint, Casey also helped out with storyboards for Connected, the directorial debut of Michael Rianda.

Following this time, he went to Warner Bros. Animation to storyboard on the second season of their big-budget Netflix series Green Eggs and Ham, inspired by the beloved Dr. Seuss book. Once the season was wrapped, Casey hopped over to their Feature division and started working for Warner Animation Group (WAG) on Space Jam: A New Legacy, the follow-up to the original 1996 cult classic.

In May of 2019, Casey was offered his first Directing job at 7ate9 Entertainment for the Netflix preschool series Wonderoos. He directed thirteen episodes of the first season, including the extended "Holiday Holiday!" episode, and joyfully got to work with and guide a lot of amazing new talent in the process.

Currently, Casey is working at Netflix Animation on an Unannounced Feature Film.

Beyond his work in the Animation Industry, Casey continues to work on content for his own creations. He has self-published Holidaze, a collection of Christmas-themed comic strips inspired by Peanuts from Charles Schulz, and is developing his own graphic novel, N.E.R.D.I..
